Τι θα κάνετε

We will start from the center of Athens and take about 2 hours to reach the Delphi oracle. On our way, we will pass important points of interest: Battlefield of Plataea and Marathon, the place where Oedipus met and killed his father, according to legend and great ancient cities such as Thebes and Thespies. After our visit to the archaeological site of Delphi and the museum, we will eat at an amazing restaurant in the village of Delphi, overlooking the Delphi valley and their ancient harbor.
Afterwards we will head higher up Mount Parnassos (1350 meters) and pass through beautiful mountain peaks. There is the Korikeion Andron, the Pan Cave and the first oracle in the area. Going down the other side of the mountain, we will visit the ancient city of Lilia, where the source of the river Kifissos (one of the two rivers of ancient Athens) is located. There are also 2 ancient temples (Apollo and Artemis), and there are also strange signs of the Knight Templars.
Our final destination will be the battlefield of the 300 Spartans and King Leonidas against the Persians. The place that became one of the most important battles in World History.

I grew up in a small town on Mount Parnassos. From a young age, I learned to love its history and myths. I work, study and discuss all of this throughout my life. Unbelievably, many historical things have happened here. I consider myself lucky to have lived in such an important and beautiful area.
I love History and Mythology and read nonstop. I enjoy talking to other people about history, mythology, philosophy, and hearing different points of view. Concepts like "fate", "prophecy and anointing", "soul", "myths and reality" are my favorites!
Visiting ancient ruins and standing in ancient temples is something unique to me. It's something that fills my soul with emotions!

Πού θα είστε

What we will do will be something completely different from a visit to the Delphi oracle. Parnassos is not just Delphi. There are also many ruined ancient cities and temples and the site of Dionysus's greatest celebration. The battlefield of the 300 Spartans is just a monument. But the path we take and the feeling we will have when we find ourselves on the hill where the Spartans died will be something unique.

Amazing tour from start to finish! It was a long day that started around 8:30am and finished around 9:00pm but it was well worth it! I’m not a big Greek mythology fan but this tour was still amazing. The places you visit are absolutely stunning and the landmarks are remarkable. Dimitrios was a wealth of knowledge and very passionate about every thing he taught us. Deff recommend

It was a truly wonderful day. A full day full of captivating stories and details we’d have been hard pressed to find elsewhere. The visit to Delphi itself was of course superb and the site remarkably free of crowds but we didn’t just do Delphi. After lunch at a lovely taverna in Delphi village with a stunning view over the valley, Dimitrios took us via his village on Parnassus to a hidden archaeological gem and then on to Thermopylae where we smelled the sulphurous healing springs (and got bitten by ravenous mosquitoes!) to the battle ground itself and monuments to the fallen Spartans and Thespians. He is a valuable guide in whom you can feel totally at ease and learn a lot from. Thank you Dimitrios!!!

Our day with Dimitrios was magical. I'm still awestruck that we fit so many things into one day. Dimitrios was extra attentive and aware of our needs and just the perfect, perfect host. His passion for history is infectious and his storytelling really makes a difference to how you view the places you will go on this trip. There is the mythological side and the reality side and everything he discusses has balance between the two. All three of us who spent the day with Dimitrios feel the same - it was the best decision we made for our trip to Athens.

Had a wonderful time seeing the sights even though it was raining. Dimitrios came prepared with umbrellas and plenty of water. You can tell that he is passionate about Greek history. He not only told us the myths and stories but also his personal stories about growing up in his village. The most magical site was the ancient temples of Apollo and Artemis. I won’t say more because I recommend that you let Dimitrios show you ;)

This is a wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone who has an interest in Greek history and/or mythology. Dimitrios collected us from right outside our apartment which was really handy and welcomed us with traditional Greek bread with sesame seeds from the bakery. There was also plenty of water being chilled for us in a cooler. The car was comfortable and clean and had good air conditioning which was very welcome on such a hot day. From the beginning, Dimitrios was really friendly and talkative and we had some really interesting discussions before we even got to our first site. En route to Delphi, we passed the site where the Battle of Marathon took place and learned about the background and story surrounding it. We did not stop here which was fine as it was never planned anyway. Also en route, we passed the ancient city of Thebes and learned about the story of Oedipus. Our first stop was just before Delphi at a viewpoint which was a wonderful place overlooking a beautiful valley. There were portable toilets here. Then we went on to Delphi which was a truly spectacular experience. Dimitrios was very well versed in the history of the area and helped us visualise what the place looked like in its prime. The views from Delphi were beautiful and the ruins left behind were fascinating to see. The cost of entry is not included in the price of this experience and Dimitrios does not enter the site with you, but there are plenty of information boards to explain each attraction. The ticket cost 10 or 12 euros and also included entry into the museum which houses all of the recovered statues and artefacts from Delphi. After this stop (which probably lasted about 2 hours or so) Dimitrios took us to an incredible restaurant for lunch which stunning views over a valley and out to sea. The staff were great and the food was delicious as well as the local ‘Delphi beer’. The cost of lunch is not included in this experience but it is very reasonably priced. Thereafter, we continued our journey to the home village of Dimitrios in the mountains of Parnassus. It is a very charming little village and has two ancient ruined temples on the outskirts. One to Apollo and one to Artemis. There is also a lovely stream next to these ruins with a really interesting story which Dimitrios explains well. After this stop, we made our way to Thermopylae, the site of the ancient battle where 300 Spartans, Thespians and local soldiers held off a huge army of Persians for a short time. We happened to be there on the anniversary of this battle from 2,500 years ago which made it all the more special. Dimitrios again explained the story and took us to exactly where the battle took place. There are monuments there to remember the soldiers and even to this day, flowers and wreaths are left there! After this we drove home and in total the trip lasted 12 hours. There is a lot of time spent in the car but this is a necessity and is balanced out by the amazing sites we got to see and the great conversations we had with Dimitrios. It is a trip we could never manage ourselves and to have the local and expert knowledge of Dimitrios made it really special. Definitely one of the biggest highlights of our trip to Athens!!
