Welcome to the "La Petite Maison - The Gallus Palace".

This was once a chicken coop for prize winning exhibition poultry and is now a mostly quiet retreat for humans needing to unplug from the pressures of reality. It is still surrounded by an active chicken yard, home to 11 laying hens and 1 cute and sassy rooster. (Hence the "mostly quiet".) This tiny house has a little of everything you need to sit back, relax and watch the sun set while surrounded by a bucolic, small farm.

Also, during this pandemic, if you are not feeling well, IN ANY WAY, please cancel your booking. We have been living a very isolated life since March 2020 and only recently reopened our farm to guests. We want everyone to be safe and well and ask you respect that. If there is any question about your health, please get tested for Covid-19 before you arrive and ALWAYS plan to wear a mask when not in your room. This is our home and we are happy to share but again, want to stay healthy at the same time.

Our location is NOT suitable for children under the age of 5. ALL unvaccinated children need to have proof of a negative Covid test no more than 72 hours before arrival and are expected to wear masks outside of the bedroom.

The space is a 10 x 20 building with a small, "bathroom" alcove. It has been a labor of love by my fiancé, Emmanuel, during the pandemic of 2020. He has completely gutted it with the help of a good friend, my nephew and myself, and rebuilt it from the ground up. He used reclaimed metal roofing from a local barn as well as reclaimed windows and patio doors that were no longer needed from other people's projects. There are a few tweaks/upgrades planned for 2021 but it is 100% usable and super chill.

You are behind the main barn and can't be seen by any other neighbors unless they are standing on the lot line, directly across the horse paddock and that would be creepy. The main house is about 200 feet away and is where Emmanuel and I live, full time. My adult children come home on holidays and sometimes in the summer but they are off on big boy/girl jobs and graduate school out West. I work from home so if you need anything, let me know.

In the alcove, there is a sink, which drains outside, with fresh, cold well water and a RV toilet - FOR EMERGENCY USE ONLY and ONLY for urine. You have access to a full, heated bathroom, through the garage, in the main house, about 200 feet away.

The rest of the space contains a Queen bed, a roll away cot for 1 additional person, located in the bathroom alcove and a foam mattress for the cot under the Queen bed, a reclining loveseat, a microwave, a 1 burner, electric induction stovetop, refrigerator, tv, air conditioner and electric heater. There is a small kitchen prep area and a storage cabinet which contains extra bedding and kitchen hutch with cooking essentials. There are also extra bedding/towels for pet needs in a drawer in the hutch. There is also WIFI for guests needing internet.

This structure is well insulated but you are surrounded by an active chicken yard for 11 laying hens and 1 cute and sassy rooster. They love scraps from the kitchen and some will do tricks to obtain those highly sought after delights.

The patio doors are the only way in and out and they face due West. You will have a great view of our spectacular sunsets over our outdoor arena. On clear nights, your view of the Milky Way is unobstructed, just outside your doorstep. There is even a little bonfire pit and firewood can be purchasedat any of the local gas stations. There is parking for 1 car per listing.

This space is great for up to 3 people, as long as the 3rd person doesn't mind sleeping on a cot.

If you are traveling with your furbaby, we REQUIRE proof of current vaccinations in order to protect our own furry, family members. This can be sent via email or as an image using this platform's messaging system. Please provide this at least 3 days before you arrive. If your pets like to sleep on the furniture, please use the materials provided to cover the furniture to protect it and to minimize the extra cleaning pets require.

There is also an extra charge of $10/reservation booked for each furbaby family members as they mean extra deep cleaning will need to be done as well as any waste removal that you might have missed. You are required to clean up after your pets. We also require that all dogs be well socialized, have basic obedience commands installed, ARE HOUSEBROKEN - being trained to a pee pad is NOT allowed, and must remain on leash if they do not have an excellent recall. There are lots of fun smells on the farm and if your pupper has never been out of the city before, it can be overwhelming for them. Our older, German Shepard Dog is skilled at interacting with all types of pets, large and small and is highly trained. Our young, male Doberman, Rudi, is well socialized and learning the ropes from his big sister.

If you do not want to interact with Ahna, our GSD, or Rudi, the red Doberman, please notify us immediately as they are always off leash when they are outside in the orchard or working around the yard and generally trying to be our shadow while also trying to convince us to play fetch - all the time.

If you are traveling with a cat or any other type of pet, please be sure to bring all you need to contain them when you are not around and to clean up when they go potty. We have a litterbox that can be rented, in a pinch.

If you are traveling with a horse, we do have extra stalls for rent but you need to bring your own hay and grain. The stall will be bedded down but if you need deep bedding, there will be an extra charge of $7/bale of pine bedding. Stall rental is $10/night, that includes daily cleaning, a water bucket and access to the large outdoor arena and trail around the property. Anderson County Park is not far from our property and is hoping to have horse trails by 2022.

Seriously, if you need anything or have questions, please ask. Emmanuel and I have loved hosting over the years as well as being Air BnB guests ourselves. I grew up here and he has lived here for a long time. We love to get out and explore our beautiful State of Wisconsin every chance we can and, prior to the pandemic of 2020, used to go to many of the weekend festivals the Midwest is famous for. Chances are good, if you are looking for something in particular, we can point you in the right direction.

There are only 8 houses on our road that is roughly 1.5 miles long. There is the Oregon Town Park on the West end of our road and a huge, Dane County Park at the other end. The Anderson Park, a Dane County Park, is a multi-use park that they have been working hard to expand the trails and get the enormous, fenced in dog park area done in 2021. As of Oct 2020, the fence is not in yet but they are almost done with the parking areas, retention ponds and orchard. This park is about a 15/20 min walk, due East, from our house. There is little traffic on our road, most of it is related to farm work in the spring and fall.

Hi! I live just 12 miles outside of the beautiful city of Madison, Wisconsin, on a small farm. I love the peace and quiet but also love being able to travel quickly and easily to Madison, Milwaukee and Chicago for enjoying big city events.

I have a variety of critters typically found on a 1880's homestead but with 21st Century perks like indoor plumbing and wifi. My son, UW-Madison alumnus, now lives in Denver and is attending graduate school there. My daughter, ISU alumna, lives and works in Kansas City, KS This means I am an empty-nester most of the year. Time to rent that end of the house out!

I used to be an avid rider and have 1 horse, on the farm, but during the winter, it's all about that snow, 'bout that snow - yes, skiing! I am a retired, professional alpine ski instructor and racing coach. I currently work from home with most of my summer days, after work, running at Nature's pace with me trying to be outside as much as possible in the gardens or with the animals.

Please consider booking a few days here, unplug from the pressure cooker of city life and just breathe, read a book, take a nap and go for a long walk, down a quiet country road without needing to drive for hours and hours to get there. This is my little slice of Heaven.

I work from home so I am usually always around. Emmanuel is usually home late at night and our weekends, during this pandemic, are being spent going through and trying to downsize our 2, very large lives that we merged together in the fall of 2019. Please forgive the corners of chaos as we also work long hours during the week and really only have the weekends to go through boxes and make repairs to the farm.
