Church
“We recommend this place because Magellan’s Cross holds an essential piece of the history of Cebu. Behind this cross is Cebu’s oldest Cathedral. Magellan’s Cross is believed to be erected by the Spanish & Portuguese explorers spearheaded by Ferdinand Magellan. It was placed when they set foot in Cebu on March 15, 1521. It was known to be the birth of Christianity in the land. Come and see this place and enjoy taking some photo for memorabilia.”

History Museum
“Museo Sugbo is located in the former Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC). It was once called “Carcel de Cebu”, the provincial jail of Cebu. It is now the Cebu Provincial Museum. Cebu MuseumThe Museo was designed by Domingo de Escondrillas in in 1869 (he used to be the only architect in Cebu that time). It was originally proposed to be the main prison for the Visayan District because of its somewhat considerable size when it was constructed. The construction started in 1871. It was believed that the coral blocks from the demolished Parian Church were used to build parts of the gaol. Fees in the Museo Adult: Filipinos: Php 30.00 Foreigners: Php 75.00 Students: Filipinos: Php 10.00 Foreigners: Php 50.00 Senior Citizen: Php 10.00”

Church
“The Basilica was founded in 1565 which keeps the oldest image of Sto. Niño (the child Jesus Christ) that was presented by Ferdinand Magellan to Queen Juana, the chief consort of Rajah Humabon, during her christening on April 14, 1521. Over the years, the image has acquired an increasing number of devotees. To accommodate them, a pilgrim center was built in the same compound. The devotion to the child Jesus is mostly celebrated during the Sinulog festival, every 3rd Sunday of January.”

Church
“This is the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country. The symbol of birth and growth of Christianity in Philippines. During Sinulog, the most famous festival in the country, this church is full packed with pilgrims from all over the country including overseas. Sinulog festival is held every 3rd Sunday of the January. Locals and tourists flocks in the city to witness and join the Sinulog street dancing. For Cebuanos like me, this is one of our most favorite event in Cebu.”

“Great place for cheap wine and a great view of the city at any time of the day, though I highly recommend sunset to evening. They serve pizza, pastries, sandwiches, cheeses and deli meats, but I would not recommend eating dinner here. There are restaurants nearby (walkable distance) with good affordable food though.”
