The Cherokee have a long and rich history in the Smoky Mountains area. In recognition of that history we named our cabin Yona Den as "yona" is the Cherokee word for "bear." Yona Den is a bear-themed, semi-private, newly updated one-level cabin with no stairs that is just under 6 miles (or 13 minutes) off the Parkway. It is a romantic couples getaway or a family retreat!
Please read the entire description and the "Frequently Asked Questions" so that you are absolutely sure before you book that Yona Den is the right cabin for you.
Yona Den is a log cabin on a mountain slope with a paved road and driveway. In the summer, the foliage provides plenty of privacy, but the screened-in back deck shutters allow hot tub privacy year round. Please see the last cabin photo for more information on the cabin setting.
The updated Master has a king size mattress on a log bed with accompanying log furniture. A jetted whirlpool tub and gas fireplace set the scene for a romantic master suite. A door from the master leads to the hot tub, so there's easy access to fun and relaxation. The Master also has a flat screen TV with cable and a DVD player.
Have the kids with you? That's okay, as the full-sized folding log futon in the living area provides plenty of sleeping space for the kids and both doors leading to the Master can be locked. There is also a comfortable leather recliner in which to relax and enjoy reading a book or watching TV, or for those who prefer sleeping in an elevated position. Both living area doors have child safety locks. The living area has a Ms. Pacman/Galaga Arcade with 60 other arcade games. There are also family board games, cards, movies, and books available for your use.
The kitchen has new stainless steel appliances, and is well-stocked with cookware and glassware including a crock pot, strainer, blender, & waffle maker. Prefer to grill? There is a new gas grill on the screened-in back deck and a grilling utensil set in the kitchen.
The back deck includes comfortable wicker furniture with seating for four, a set of Horseshoes and Cornhole (also known as Bag Toss), a foosball table, and a hot tub. The hot tub is drained, sanitized, and refilled with fresh water after every guest.
The bathroom includes a toilet, sink, and shower.
Yona Den has Wifi and is one level with no stairs. There is easy access to the front door.
Yona Den is in a mountain setting and the drive requires climbing one hill and descending our street, which includes only two other homes, to our driveway.
Yona Den has a surveillance system recording the driveway and the front porch from the driveway to the front door. This is for the protection of our home, as well as the protection of your belongings. All other areas of the home are private.
We have relative privacy, particularly in the summer, although other homes sit on ridges around us and can be seen from our front and back decks in the winter when the leaves have fallen.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the home located?
Yona Den is located in the Hidden Mountain area next to Bluff Mountain and close to Wear's Valley Rd. Hidden Mountain is a popular area for tourists to stay as there are many cabins in the area and they are located close to the main parkway in Pigeon Forge. Yona Den is located 5.8 miles from the Kroger grocery store located at 220 Wears Valley Rd Pigeon Forge, TN 37863. The grocery can be accessed without actually getting on the Pigeon Forge Parkway and thus avoiding the worst of the traffic. Yona Den is just six miles from the Pigeon Forge Parkway where most restaurants and activities are located, ten miles from Dollywood, fourteen miles from Gatlinburg, and fifteen from the Townsend, TN Great Smoky Mountain National Park entrance.
Is your home pet-friendly?
It is! However, there is a $50 pet fee per stay and we allow only 1 pet. Your pet must be under 40 pounds. You must agree to these rules: pet must be leashed when outside the home, pet must be crated when alone inside the home, pet will not be permitted on furniture or beds, Guest will provide a pet bed during stay, all waste must be cleaned up and disposed of properly by Guest, pet must be housebroken, pet must be on a flea/tick prevention during stay.
What do you provide during my stay? What do I need to bring?
We will be sure you have toilet paper, tissues, dish washing liquid and dishwasher soap. Towels and bed linens are provided. We try and keep extra supplies like bar soap, shampoo, and razors under the bathroom sink just in case you forget them. You may need to supply extra paper towels depending on your usage and laundry detergent if you plan to do laundry.
Do you have suggestions for things to do or places to visit?
Yes! All of this info is located in a binder in our home, but is also found under "Guest resources" when you book with us. We want all of our guests to enjoy the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg/Townsend area to its fullest!
Are the roads in the home's area steep?
Yes, the area is mountainous. That being said, steepness is relative. The Hidden Mountain area might be described as having large hills when compared to our neighbor, Bluff Mountain, and the very steep terrain in Gatlinburg. You will not need 4WD unless there is snow on the ground.
How is the drive to your home?
It depends on the route. If you take the Pigeon Forge Parkway to Wear's Valley Road to Walden Creek, the route will be easy. This is how most people coming are routed. However, if your GPS is in real time and the parkway traffic is heavy, it may reroute you to go the "back roads." This frequently happens when traveling in from the North. These roads are very curvy and not for the faint of heart. If your GPS route takes you through Knoxville to 411 (also called Chapman Highway), Whites School Road, and Goose Gap Rd for more than a mile, you are off the beaten path. This is a great way to avoid the sometimes very heavy parkway traffic and save time, but you must drive slowly and carefully; it's a very curvy drive.
When will you contact me with check-in information?
It is typically sent at the end of the month preceding your check-in date. So if your stay is scheduled for June, the information is usually sent at the end of May. You can always contact me on this site if you need information beforehand, and you will have all of my personal contact info when I send the check-in info.
We are on a street with 3 other homes, so we have relative privacy, although other homes sit on ridges around us and can be seen from our front and back decks in the winter when the leaves have fallen. The location is nice because we are just 14 minutes from the Parkway, but it definitely feels like you are in the mountains.
