This is not a commercial coffee tour, it is an educational experience to create awareness in the only organic specialty coffee plantation in the Monteverde area, located in the Ecological Sanctuary, a 48 hectares family project focused on conservation, sustainability, agroecology, education and culture. In a guided workshop by an expert where you will learn from the basics of ancestral agriculture, how we create our own organic fertilizers, then you will know the coffee gardens planted in the forest that surrounds the Ecological Sanctuary, the drying area, and the process that involves the specialty coffee (history, plantations, growth, development, varieties and the science of flavor to prepare a good coffee). After leaving the forest, we will enjoy a guided coffee tasting, sharpening the senses to recognize defects, attributes, aromas and flavors in different qualities of coffee. Finally, we will create an interactive demonstration of the science of flavor and all the variables that an alchemist applies in the preparation of a coffee using different infusion methods. Monteverde in Costa Rica is one of the best destinations for Birdwatching around different birds habitats. I was raised in Monteverde where I have been living all my life listening all the different bird calls all the time, that I can recognize 99% of them. My 31 years experience made me very exigent to use different birdwatching places, depending the season or weather conditions to see as many birds as possible. We'll start birdwatching at 6:00 AM, where we'll see about 30 different species of birds at an elevation of about 4,500 feet above sea level. Then we'll stop at the cafeteria for a quick Costa Rican coffee. After that, we'll move up to Curicancha Reserve where we'll walk through two different life zones including different types of forests (secondary, transitional and primary) plus open areas where we'll be able to see much more variety of birds or Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve to be at a different elevation—about 5,000 feet above sea level—where we'll see much more interesting birds, including the resplendent quetzal, guans, barbets, three-wattled bellbirds, tinamous, and so many others. Is good to know that if you repeat the tour, you must see other birds you didn't see the day before.. Typically we would see 60 to 70 different types of birds. Costa Rica is a small country in Central America that is home to around 5% of the world's biodiversity. Most animals in Costa Rica are nocturnal. If you like mammals such as sloths, armadillos, active birds such as owls, amphibians, reptiles, and many insects, then this is the opportunity to carry out an outdoor activity and learn more about the nocturnal behavior of many species of flora and fauna. It is an easily accessible route of around 2 kilometers, the ‘jewels’ of the cloud forest shine brighter at night. With luck, we will even be able to observe the famous bioluminescent mushrooms. the place where I do the night walk is very close to the center of Monteverde Santa Elena, it takes only 5 minutes by car. Let's wait for you to observe how the cloud forest comes to life at night.

Just 5 minutes from the center of town you can move from the beach to the tropical rainforest. As easy as literally crossing the Street, doing this you will enter the Kekoldi indigenous territory. You’ll have secure parking from where the hike starts. 5 minots in, you’ll begin diving into the rainforest. First crossing an old cacao farm. Then you’ll pass three humble huts of indigenous families. One hour in you'll be in the depth of the forest. Some trees with more than 200 years of safeguarding these territories. This jungle has species of plants and shrubs with healing properties. A wide variety of palms such as chonta and suita that provide materials for the construction of the traditional Bribri house. About 2 hours in you’ll be approaching our great surprise. Descend to the KEKOLDI river. Follow the river, until we encounter an imposing 45 meters high waterfall. Here enjoy swimming and appreciating the tropical jungle at this secret and remote place. After enjoying and delighting in this breathtaking place it’s time to head back to the start. We will be walking in the jungle so you might get some mud on your shoes. And if it's raining we will still get mud so don't let a rainy day stop us. Total distance is 10km. For some people the hick could be a challenge.

Ideal para fotografiar y poder caminar por la ciudad e identificar sus puntos principales, paradas de autobús, tiendas, mercados y todo lo necesario para moverse por San José. En dos horas y media le daremos una perspectiva que pocos le podrán dar y que le harán ver porqué San José fue una gran urbe y porqué le llamaban "el pequeño París". Aún cuando llueva, tendremos recorrido. Iremos por San José, por algunas zonas de sus cuatro distritos históricos (Carmen, Merced, Hospital y Catedral).
