“Bene – city’s beloved beach with a pine forest in the middle of the Marjan hill. You’ll find a tennis and football court there, also a restaurant/bar. Considering the beach is a bit far from the center the best way to approach it is to rent a bike, or go by bus.”

“Firule is a sandy beach – also popular with families in Split. Easy enough to find as it is on the same path that Bacvice and Ovcice are. There you can find some of the best restaurants & cafe places – Dvor and Mythos set a bit above the bay offering a phenomenal view. ”

“Only a few minutes away from Bacvice there is the Ovčice beach. This small, pebble beach is a bit more quiet then the very popular Bacvice, but just as nice. Just above there is a small children’s playground, and a few restaurants and bars.”

“Only 1,5 kilometres before Kasjuni Beach is located another pebbled beach, one of the most favourite city beaches among the locals. It is easy to access by car and you can also get there by foot from the city centre in 15 minutes. The beach is known as Kastelet among the older residents, but it is popularly called “Obojena” (after the famous bar on the beach called Obojena svjetlost). ”

“Katalinić hill A hill southeast of the city harbour, separating the harbour from Bačvice, was in the Middle Ages the location of the church of St Peter de Buctis, and later of the fort which defended the city from the sea attacks. It earned the name it carries today at the end of the 19th century, after the local estates belonging to the rich family from Split named Katalinić. The most memorable trademark of this park today is the Memorial Lighthouse, together with the tomb to the unknown sailor who died in the Second World War dedicated to the memory of the sailors who died at war and in peace. The lighthouse was damaged during the aggression war on Croatia at the beginning of the nineties, and it was restored in 2014. Like Sustipan, Katalinić also offers a beautiful view of the sea and the islands, but also of Bačvice and the city. It is a favourite meeting place for the young, especially those in love.”
