The Adobe is a vibrant and uniquely furnished property with a spacious 1,200 sq ft floor plan packed with every amenity needed for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.
We offer a fully stocked kitchen, a large dining area w/ seating for 6, eat-in kitchen with a retro vibe, a livingroom with a small tv w/ roku, dvd player, lots of dvds, speakers to plug into phone or laptop, 2 spacious bedrooms, 1 bathroom, concrete front and back porch sitting areas, front yard picnic bench.
Comfortable sleeping arrangements include: 1 queen bed in the master and two full beds in the second bedroom.
The house is equipped with a ductless heater in the livingroom, space heaters in each bedroom, and a roof-mounted evaporative cooler.
The Adobe's beautiful views of untouched desert landscape in the distance make this a perfect place to unplug, rest, and serve as a comfy home base for your desert adventures.
The large backyard comes equipped with outdoor amenities including an enormous fire pit and 6 adirondack chairs for an incredible night of stargazing. The yard is fully fenced and wraps all the way around the corner lot to the front.
Your desert exploration starts right outside the front door with the Joshua Tree National Park (JTNP) Headquarters/Oasis Visitors Center just around the corner; an awesome Observatory 1 mile away; and the Joshua Tree National Park (29 Palms) North entrance, just a short few minutes drive away.
Zip in and out the Park through this less busy entrance and quickly access the JTNP's world class bouldering, climbing and hiking sites (Jumbo Rocks, Skull Rock, Hall of Horrors, Cap Rock, Arch Rock, Intersection Rock, Barker Dam, Hemmingway Buttress, Quail Springs and Hidden Valley) from the Adobe. Also easily access the picturesque Cholla Cactus Gardens, Indian Cove, and 49 Palms trail, a hotspot to occasionally catch big horn sheep sightings!

FOR BABY: We have a bundle of joy ourselves so your baby will always be welcomed to recharge at the Adobe too. A pack & play, a baby gate to block off kitchen, a compact folding high chair, a pack of outlet protectors and a bin of baby/toddler toys is provided for your use and stored in the Master Bedroom closet. Please be awesome and wipe down toys before your departure. The Adobe is not childproofed.
LIBRARY: We have curated a lovely collection of reading materials and books about the JTNP, the California Desert, its ecosysrem and an assortment of fun reads on natural health, yoga, cooking and positive thought for our guests to enjoy. Please be sure to check them back into our shelves at checkout.

The Sunset Adobe is a few minute drive to the entrance of Joshua Tree National Park (29 Palms entrance) and within 1/4 mile of the Oasis Visitors Center, a regional observatory, great restaurants, local history museum, community theater, shops and galleries. Only a scenic 15-20 minute drive down Hwy 62 to the hustle & bustle of downtown Joshua Tree.
Joshua Tree National Park - two distinct desert ecosystems, the Mojave and the Colorado, come together in the park A fascinating variety of plants and animals make their homes in this land sculpted by strong winds and occasional torrents of rain. Dark night skies, a rich cultural history, and surreal geologic features add to the wonder of this vast wilderness. Come explore for yourself!
The park entrance fee is $30 for the day or $75 for an annual pass. There are some free entrance days so be sure to check the Park website for these dates.
Sky's the Limit Observatory - A few minutes drive from the Sunset Adobe, free public star gazing gatherings on Sat. nights (except on full moon weekends). Open to the publc, 7 days a week. Free of admission or reservations. Located just outside the North entrance of the Park, on Utah Trail. This is the perfect place for those looking to experience astronomy at its best, from a dark night sky. On event dates, do so in the company of knowledgeable, local volunteer astronomers who set up their powerful telescopes for causal viewing. Live music on choice nights. Take along the Adobe's loaner red flashlight to aid in your night vision.
Joshua Tree Astronomy Arts Theater - for an inspiring evening under the starry desert skies, get in on an Astronomy Arts Theatre stargazing event. Located a quick 20 minutes away from the Adobe. Events include astronomy discussion, telescopes, 3-D space image and live deep space image projections onto giant theater screens, and much more! Check out their website for event dates.
Smith's Ranch Drive-in Theater - one of only 17 drive-in theaters still in operation in the entire State of California, a night here is like taking a step back in time. The circa 1950s single screen theater is the only place where you can enjoy a double feature en plein air for a bargain $5! Pack up your blankets and lawn chairs and head over for a unique vintage movie viewing experience. Cash only. Take a few extra bucks and visit their yummy snack bar too!

29 Palms Inn - Minutes from the Adobe, you will find the most amazing circa 1930s historic oasis Inn restaurant & bar offering a cool vibe, full bar, and a farm fresh, ever changing menu. Its always an exceptionally delicious dining experience at the Inn with unique seasonal dishes created around ingredients available from their very own onsite organic garden. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and brunch on Sundays, its a fun place to meet locals, exchange desert adventures with other desert dwellers, or just chill poolside with a book over cocktails or a bottle of wine. Live relaxing music offered every Friday & Saturday nights. The Inn is also home to a real desert oasis (The Oasis de Mara), a must see while at the Inn. And don't forget to take a stroll through their Faultline Organic Garden and grounds while you are there to see where your food was grown!
Kitchen in the Desert - This family-owned and operated restaurant is a hidden gem in our neck of the desert. We'd prefer to keep this spot a secret as everything is so delicious and the location so quaint, but now that you're family of the Sunset Adobe we can share our secrets. Go here and BYOB, your stomache will thank you instantly.
Mojave Moon Cafe - a funky, friendly café and dessert lounge offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Coffee is provided by local favorite Joshua Tree Coffee Co., and craft beer comes via San Diego’s Iron Fist Brewing. One unique menu option is the Taco Rice, a dish originating from Okinawa that has become a favorite of U.S. Marine Corps service members stationed in Japan. The café is focused on National Park conservation; the business donates 10 percent of the proceeds from dessert sales to Mojave Desert Land Trust, a land conservation nonprofit based in Joshua Tree.

Joshua Tree Saloon is the perfect spot to listen to live music, have some drinks, people watch and meet other interesting desert dwellers. They Saloon has an open mic every Tues., Kareoki every Wed., and live bands every Sat. night. Be sure to have some BBQ or Mahi Mahi tacos, you won't regret it.
Joshua Tree Certified Farmers Market - every Sat. from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Turtle Island in Joshua Tree Village in downtown JT.
Joshua Tree Makers Market - local and traveling musicians and makers come together every last Sat. of the month in Joshua Tree to showcase their work at the Beatnik Lounge in Downtown Joshua Tree, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. followed by a singing bowl sound meditation at 9 p.m. Free to attend, all ages.
Noah Purifoy Exhibit - An outdoor art exhibit and is a must see for all art lovers. The artists' installations have been in galleries across the country and this exhibit is a true testament of his amazing work.
Happenings in Surrounding Areas:
The Integratron - for those seeking deep relaxation and rejuvenation at a unique vortex in the desert, an unforgettable sound healing experience awaits you at the world famous Integratron. Sound baths are by appointment only and can be booked online. Reserve your session well in advance as space fills quickly, depending on the season. Integratron is located in Landers, about 35 minutes away and well worth the realxing drive.
Landers Brew Co - If you're looking for an off the beaten path place to enjoy a craft beer, surrounded by desert scenery, the LBC is the spot for you. With a friendly bar staff and great selection of drafts and bottles, you can't go wrong. Definitely a must for beer lovers. Take the 30 minute drive and enjoy a beer on the patio or listen to some local live music.
La Copine - a touchstone hipster eatery in a renovated diner right off Highway 247 in Flamingo Heights approx 30 min from the Adobe. They serve hundreds of weekend customers from 2-7 p.m., Thursday through Sunday. Here, you will find the hispter scene with perfectly-lit corners to hide away in. Waits can reach an hour or more during prime Saturday brunch hours, and there are no reservations. Check out their website for current business hours.
Pioneertown and Pappy & Harriets - originally a movie set in the 1940's & 50's built for Western films by Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Russell Hayden. Pioneertown is an 1870’s frontier town with facades designed for filming and interiors open to the public. Local artists now occupy the interior spaces with eclectic shops. The town's restaurant, Pappy & Harriets, serves up a full bar, mesquite barbeque, live music daily, dancing and friendly service. Musicians such as Robert Plant, Peaches, Little Dragon, Sean Lennon, the legendary Paul Mc Cartney, and many more have graced the P&H stage. The legendary bar and intimate concert venue has become an indie rock favorite with a vibe that can’t be matched. Check out their website for the concert & event calendar. Located 40 min from the Adobe. A great spot to visit on your way into town.
Garth's Boulder Gardens, located in Rimrock/Pioneertown vicinity (approx. 45 min from the Adobe) is a 640 acre welcoming gathering spot for desert dwellers and peace seekers. An open invitation awaits you to enjoy this sacred space that Garth has spent the last 30 years building and maintaining. Freely roam Garth's permaculture gardens where he is re-greening the desert. You'll also find koi ponds, greenhouses, a chicken coup, a sauna, a rock pool, an underground house, garden temple, a cosmic castle, yoga platform nestled between boulders, caves, a mini stone henge, an outdoor amphitheater…and the list goes on! The tepee is Garth's personal dwelling. He welcomes all visitors and only asks in exchange to leave no trace and to extend your generosity when passing his donation box on your way out.
Coachella Area & Palm Springs - a scenic 50 minute drive through the Park, just beyond the Cottonwood Visitors Center, places you at the 10 freeway, which can get you to Palm Springs, and the Coachella area including Palm Desert, La Quinta.

Sand to Snow & Mojave Trails National Monuments - acres beyond acres of spectacular desert landscapes, soaring mountain peaks, fragile wildlife habitat, unique historic resources and important cultural sites. For more info online search for: "Mojave Monuments Adventure Kit"
Whitewater Preserve - part of The Wildlands Conservancy, the preserve is composed of 2,851 scenic acres and provides trailhead access to the San Gorgonio Wilderness, the Whitewater River and the Pacific Crest Trail. Whitewater River flows year-round and is the natural home for rainbow trout. Fishing not permitted but you may hike and picnic. Located off the 10 Freeway near Desert Hot Springs. Big Morongo Canyon Preserve -a 31,000 acre native plants habitat and wildlife preserve located in the transition zone between the higher Mojave Desert and lower elevation Colorado Desert section of the Sonoran Desert. Due to its location within this transition zone, the area is especially high in natural diversity. This natural spring fed desert oasis is one of the largest Cottonwood and Willow riparian habitats in California. The Audubon Society identified it as one of the most important avian habitat areas in our California. Entrance to the preserve is located in Morongo Valley.
