I'm not a pizza person, but theirs is excellent. You can walk there in 10 minutes, drive in 3, or have it delivered.

Cheap and cheerful, El Patron is a popular local hangout with friendly staff, indoor and outdoor seating, and non-fancy, tasty comida. If they are busy and there’s a wait, you can order to go and enjoy eating in the little adjacent park. Don’t miss the fascinating historical interpretive signs in the park, which highlight aspects of Altadena history. Bet you didn’t know that Owen Brown, son of John Brown, who led the raid on Harper’s Ferry before the Civil War, lived here! He participated in the raid and was its last survivor. A replica of his gravestone is in Triangle Park.

Best gelato on the world, and now also an artisanal Italian restaurant with home made pasta and really delicious food. It is a little on the pricy side, but worth it for special meal and to have a unique Altadena experience!

Amara Cafe on Mariposa just west of Lake is our hippest eatery with veg and vegan options, quinoa bowls, and more. Excellent food and a great addition to Altadena!

Our newest hip spot, eat in, in tiny dining room, or take out. Papaya salad, green curry, mango sticky rice! Tuesday is vegetarian day, the rest of the time. Five minutes from us on Lake Avenue.

This is our oldest eatery, but under newer management with really good and higher end diner food than before, plus some surprises. Try the green pozole, shrimp and grits, and vegetarian burger of the day! Good, home made pies and cakes.

I know, it’s a strange recommendation — but Mountain View on Fair Oaks Ave. is our oldest business, established in 1881, and with more Civil War vets than any cemetery east of the Mississippi. A few governors, famous scientists, SuperMan, Eldridge Cleaver, and more in a beautiful “Garden Style” cemetery whose design was influenced by New York’s Central Park. Across the street on Marengo Ave. is the 1920’s palace of a mausoleum, which is full of amazing stained glass, art, frescos, etc. you will think you are in Europe!
