City/town information

Brisbane has a great cross bridge network. There are actually 15 bridges - with 11 pedestrian /cycle bridges. An inner city explore could see you easily traverse Story Bridge, Goodwill Bridge, Kurilpa Bridge and Go Between Bridge. Along the way explore city centre, Botanical Gardens and Roma Street Parklands, GoMA and Qld Museum and State Library. From the cultural end of Southbank make your way back along the riverside past Southbank outdoor water park or stroll under the bougainvillea arches, past the cliff faces at Kangaroo Point. Pop into the The Jazz Club or enjoy music and a meal at the Story Bridge Hotel. Going another way:- Howard Street Wharves has a plethora of eating establishments and micro breweries, with another walk on the over river raised boardwalk to the iconic New Farm Park. Further walks to Newstead and Hamilton and Gasworks show more of the city. You can always make these seperate adventures or hire an electric scooter and make your way through it all. Or travel on the water via Brisbane's network of City Cats and Ferries - and hop on and off at almost all of these sites. Take a ride up and down the river on a City Cat - leave in the afternoon from Apollo Road and continue right up to the University of Queensland Campus at St Lucia. Worth a couple of hours here, visiting the mix of old and new architecture and the serenity of the extensive landscaped grounds. On your way back dine somewhere in the city before returning to your start- and witness the lights of the city, buildings and homes on the river at night.

It is an older area with a mix of newer canal estates. There are lovely walks- foreshore and explore the very shaded Eddie Santagiualiana Way. This is the gateway to Moreton Islands. Also go to Wellington Point - and at low tide, you can walk across the sand flats to King Island.
