Wonderful restaurant in Anderson. It's a bit longer of a drive, but it's our nicest restaurant around by far. Not formal, but offers a great steak, cocktails, and a romantic evening.

There are several marinas on the lake, but Big Water Marina is the closest. It is located directly across the big water (and a little north) from our cottage. If you need to rent a boat, or if you
need to put gas in your own boat, that would be the place to do it. They have a very cute outdoor bar and grill, but you'll want to call and ask for their weekly hours before boating there.

The dam has a wonderful walking trail that's lakeside and so beautiful in the evenings around sunset.
If you make a left at the Ingles and head back toward the dam there is a park on your left before you get to the dam (Big Oaks Rec Area). You can park at the entrance, and walk the levy all the way to the dam (about 1.5 miles each way). The sun sets over the lake, and that is a great time to go. Beautiful views!!

Be familiar with the lake rules from the Army Corps of Engineers
The Army Corps of Engineers manages Lake Hartwell.
Their website (http://www.sas.usace.army.mil/About/Divisions-and-Offices/Operations-Division/Hartwell-Dam-and-Lake/Plan-A-Visit/) offers lots of information on use of the lake and rules about what is and is not permitted. If you plan to spend time on the water, or if you plan to visit and island, or fish, you’ll want to be familiar with their rules.

Looking for the closest boat slip?
Want to put your own boat in? There is a boat ramp just around the corner. It is called the “Powderbag Ramp”. If you go down Jim Crittendon Dr to where it intersects with the cross street, make a left. It is a half mile down on your left. You can see our dock from the ramp.
