A range of goods are found here, from somewhat generic items to African curios, jewellery, clothing and interesting finds. See if you can spot the famous Eggman - you will know him instantly by his towering hat that is full of feathers and eggs! There are also many charming sidewalk cafes situated alongside the market that are ideal for coffee or a bite to eat. The market is open Monday to Saturday from early morning until late afternoon.

Built in 1764, Martin Melck House is one of the oldest building in Cape Town. The façade and interior of the building was built by German woodcarver Anton Anreith, with much of the original Batavian brickwork still found in the foyer. The building is a fascinating museum in its own right for its beautiful design. It's also used for temporary exhibitions held throughout the year. If you have a passion for beautiful old buildings, be sure to add this one to your bucket list!
