I dine out quite a bit and prefer locally owned spots with real food and interesting cocktails. I hope you might enjoy some of these as well.
South Market has a great bottomless brunch Sat and Sun 10-3pm. They also have cool specials such as half off appetizers Sunday nights 4-Cl. On the other days lunch is M-F and dinner is served nightly. Food is anything from fish tacos to steaks to sandwiches and burgers. Most everything is made in house and the only fried food they have is the fries which are also cut fresh in house. They have a full bar featuring craft cocktails and patio seating. Family and group friendly. Tons of gluten free options and some vegetarian options--just ask! Reservations accepted.

If you're looking for something super odd and off the beaten path this is your spot. It's been around forever, it's in a dicey part of town, the owner is super sweet and awesome and she cooks a lot of the soups and specials. A big part of the menu is pizza and sandwiches. Gluten free crust available. More of a bar setting and lots of retro decor like startrek and old beer signs. If you are at all weirded out by dark places in weird parts of town don't go here. Despite everyhing, this place is frequented by mostly normal people. Not family friendly.

Favorite Beach Restaurants
As it pertains to eating out I prefer real food that is fresh and made with some creativity / culinary talent. That being said there are more casual options that won't be represented here that might be good to try as well.

It's just next to the boardwalk so you can dine and then relax after on the beach. They also have outdoor lounge chairs so you can relax while sipping on your favorite beverage. It is a restaurant so it is family friendly.
