This is the restaurant of all restaurants with views of Lake Travis. This place is like a city - shops, multiple bars, like 5 different floors, huge patio (multiple patios (like 10 patios I'm guessing)) on a huge hill that looks over Lake Travis. This is quite a bit west/north of downtown, but a super cool Mexican food spot. Highly recommend!

This place is like a city - shops, multiple bars, like 5 different floors, huge patio (multiple patios (like 10 patios I'm guessing)) on a huge hill that looks over Lake Travis. This is quite a bit west/north of downtown, but a super cool Mexican food spot. Highly recommend!

This is the place to go if you're going to go out on the town. ~20 old houses converted into bars and restaurants. This place gets "poppin" on Friday and Saturday nights with late night food and dancing - one of my favorite places in Austin!

This is my second favorite spot - a little fraty-er crowd but also a very "poppin" spot on the weekends. You will love this area too if you're looking for a night on the town!

East 6th has a ton of bars and is a very up and coming Austin attraction. Also a must see place if you're looking to go out for a drink!

Between Congress and I-35 on 6th street is what's called 'Dirty 6th" and it is more or less an alternative to bourbon street - with less drinking on the sidewalks. I can't not guide you to west 6, east 6 and rainy and not include dirty 6th. This place is awesome - I don't choose this area anymore b/c it's a wild crowd, but it's a historic place to visit. Just travel in groups and lookout for the homeless as the shelter is very close (on 7th street - one block away).

The Domain is like a little city with every shop you can imagine and little streets that remind you of some sort of fantasy world. Very cool spot!

Sightseeing
This is Zilker Park! Zilker park is a massive park just south of downtown. Great place for dogs, families, makeshift sporting events (frisbee, volleyball, yoga etc.). This is also where ACL music festival is held - there's a great view of the downtown skyline pretty much from any place on the ACL side of the park!

Always bring water
Hopefully you don't buy plastic water bottles still, but definitely bring water wherever you go. I'd invest in a yeti - b/c they're cool and they stay cold for forever!

The bats under Congress Bridge!
Head down to the congress bridge, or rent a canoe and park it under the congress bridge around sunset any day and prepare to be amazed with hundreds of thousands of bats as they head out for the night to feast!
