Eat & Drink

Best places and location to enjoy a coffee, eat or drink! 1) Place du Pin, then 2) Place Garibaldi, and then it's the 3) Old Nice | View Nice. I love Old Nice, but during the high season it's really crowded, so for the ultimate experience, and if especially if you're looking to hang out and eat where locals do: go to Place Garibaldi, or pass it: Place du Pin.
Great bakery nearby with great offers. You should try ‘la baguette de Marie’ as well as ‘the 50% discounts’ on almost everything 30min before their closing time (usually between 19h30 and 20h00) — Dont be late !

Neighborhoods

Located in the heart of the city, the Port of Nice comprises 7ha of docks and a dozen wharves, six for commercial activity. The Port of Nice, surrounded by 18th-century buildings in the Genoese style, is actually named Port Lympia. The architectural complex seems inspired by the Italian Renaissance and influenced by the baroque urban planning of Turin. In the area there are many places to eat, drink (bars, cafes and restaurants), flower shops, supermarkets, pharmacies and all you can think of. Old Nice, Place Garibaldi and Place du Pin (within 5 min walk) are probably the most desired places when it comes to sightseeing, eating out, and just walking around and discovering nice life-style and architecture..

Looking for the place to eat and chill with the glass of wine? Did you know that, besides Old Nice | View Nice, which is extremely crowded most of the time, Place du Pin is the next best place to come for food and drinks? In fact, in my opinion, it is THE BEST place. If you want to discover Nice like a local, you come to this area. It's where the locals eat, and it's away from all the hustle bussle. Although it's a short street, you will the most certainly find a good restaurant to dine or order an ice cream :) This area is also known as a "gay area", as there are a couple of gay bars too. Sometimes they close down the area (during the summer (check on Nice Tourism website) for the events) and there is DJ/Music etc.

Old Nice, AKA "Vieux Nice" is the city’s vibrant old town, with narrow cobblestone streets and pastel-hued buildings where shops sell Niçoise soaps and Provençal textiles, plus meats and cheeses. A daily market on pedestrian street Cours Saleya offers produce and flowers, and busy pubs and outdoor eateries serving specialities like socca crepes dot the area. Leafy, hilltop Parc de la Colline du Château has grand city and sea views. A city of history, culture, art, creation, events, leisure, nature, and culinary flavours, Nice combines authentic charm with the conviviality of the Mediterranean by offering a host of activities and sites to visits. Take an opportunity to visit the 20th-century collections in Nice's great museums and galleries, which house prestigious collections with contributions from Matisse, Chagall or even the famous School of Nice. Not to be missed in Nice > Museums: Chagall, Matisse, MAMAC, Beaux-Arts, Arts Asiatiques, Arts Naïfs > Vieux-Nice (old city) : especially the flower market and baroque heritage > Promenade des Anglais > Castle hill Cimiez arenas > The Belle Epoque itinerary > The Russian church

Looking for the place to eat? Want to avoid the crowded Old Nice / "View Nice"? Place Garibaldi is the place to be! What I love the most about Place Garibaldi, without a doubt it being one of the most visited and best places to eat, is the location and the views. It is a large open plaza surrounded by stunning architecture. Old Nice is only on side, and Place du Pin is on the other side; so Place Garibaldi is actually positioned in the middle. There is a tram that you can take to come here (it cuts across the plaza), or simply walk, as it's literally in the heart of Nice.
