Since moving to San Diego, this has been my most consistent spot to venture to. One of the more local options, It is extremely intimate & peaceful, and is best to be explored during the sunset, hence the name "Sunset Cliffs". Take your significant other, bring a blanket and a bottle of wine and enjoy the California night air.

Balboa Park was originally called "City Park," but was renamed after Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa, in honor of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition, held in the Park that year. Balboa Park was declared a National Historic Landmark, and a National Historic Landmark District in 1977. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as, one of the Great Places in America. The Park is managed and maintained by The City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department, and supported by dozens of other non-profit organizations.
In addition to open space areas, natural vegetation zones, green belts, gardens, and walking paths, it contains museums, several theaters, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo.

Some of the most beautiful views you will see on the California Coast. The Torrey Pines State Reserve offers an adventurous experience to not only hike cliffs, but also jump in the water at sea level.
Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is located within San Diego city limits and yet remains one of the wildest stretches of land on our Southern California coast! Because of the efforts and foresight of the people in this area, 1,500 acres of land are as they were before San Diego was developed — including the maritime chaparral, the rare Torrey pine, miles of unspoiled beaches, and a lagoon that is vital to migrating seabirds. One can imagine what California must have looked like to the early settlers, or to the Spanish explorers, or even to the first California residents here, the Kumeyaay people.
Torrey Pines is visited by travelers from all over the world and by local residents who come daily to rest at the stunning overlooks, walk a peaceful trail, or exercise in a clean, beautiful environment. Come spend some time at beautiful Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve.

Once home to San Diego's flourishing tuna fishing industry and generations of Italian families who made their living on the sea, Little Italy is now a lively neighborhood filled with patio cafés, packed restaurants, craft brew stops, urban wineries, art galleries, sophisticated shops, boutique hotels and the beautiful Amici Park.
Today, San Diego's most dynamic food and drink scene is centered in Little Italy. It's a place where the past meets the present, where Top Chef alums have set up shop next to old-school eateries that remain treasured landmarks.
