Primary is a true gem in Nottingham. This former school has been tastefully turned into a gallery space, a number of shops as well as artists' studios. Don't be fooled by the understated interiors of this space: Primary studios are home to artists who have shown all over the world including the Venice Biennale. Studio visits can be arranged with individual artists and the galleries is open most weekends (check the website beforehand). To top all of this off, Primary is also home to an absolutely amazing bakery called Small Food Bakery which is open Thursday to Saturday. This art gallery and community focuses on under-represented art and culture from from Black and Ethnic Minority groups. New Art Exchange hosts a lot of free events and talks which we recommend that you check out. A very welcoming and inspiring atmosphere.

I personally spoke to the owner of Hilltop Dry Cleaners to inquire about washing/drying services for our AirBnb guests. Guests can expect the following services from Hilltop Dry Cleaning: separation of whites and colours, washing, drying and ironing if required. A small load costs £3, a large load costs £5, 10 mins of drying cost £1 and 1kg of ironing costs £3. These are very reasonable prices compared to similar establishments in town.

This is our local bakery which specialises in Bulgarian pastry and bread. We love going there to pick up something quick and easy for lunch. The bakery is known for their feta cheese and leek pastry which is very tasty. If you want something that is quick and easy for lunch, and that you can easily heat up in the suite, BG Bakery is a great place to go and it's very closely as well.

Colwick Marina is a beautiful spot which is not very well known even amongst locals. Our kids love going there for walks or just visiting the playground. You can picnic and bbq right next to the water.

Colwick Wood is a fabulous nature reserve only a few minutes away from our house. If you are into trial running, this is a great place for a daily exercise. Luckily, very few people ever seem to go there so if you are an early morning runner, you will have the woods all for yourself. If you are staying with us during early summer, we can advise you on where to find some wild garlic. For the more advanced foragers, we were told that a wide variety of mushrooms also grow there (but we have never managed to find those). There are also a couple of viewing platform which have amazing views over Nottinghamshire.

Navarra on Oakdale Road is the cultural and culinary centre for the local Italian community that is calling this part of Nottingham their home since the 1950s and 1960s. Adjacent is a little shop that sells about 30 different types of pasta. The food in the restaurant is, as you can expect, proper Italian food and is also reasonably priced. It's in walking distance from our Airbnb flat so if you want a quick meal nearby, we recommend Navarra.

This is a typical fish and chip shop. The staff there is very friendly. The guy who runs the place has an incredible memory so don't be surprised that he remembers your name even after only a few visits. We recommend that you go there during busy periods to ensure that everything is as freshly made as possible. If you want to experience a typical fish and chips, this is a great place to go.

This Italian Restaurant is considered to be one of the top restaurants rated on Deliveroo - the food delivery app. If you want to just take it easy at home and not worry about what to cook, we recommend that you place an order on Deliveroo. The pizza is amazing and is still hot by the time it arrives. Highly recommended.

This is NOT your usual tourist attraction. In fact, even amongst the citizens of Nottingham the tunnel that connects the city to The Park Estate is not well known at all and can be tricky to find. Chances are that you will be the only people visiting. Built in 1855 so that horse carriages could access The Park more easily, the tunnel is a magnificent piece of engineering.
