Sightseeing
The Air and Space Museum is currently under renovation and many sections are closed off. However it is still one of my favorite museums to take the kids to. There are exhibits for young kids and older. It’s best for kids 8 and older but my six year old enjoys the space exhibits a lot too. There are lots of planes, rockets, and more.

This is a newer Air and Space Museum located outside the city near Dulles Airport. It’s basically an enormous room filled with planes. Lots of them. There is a concord, an SR 71, and the space shuttle Discovery - among many others. I personally like it a lot better than the Air and Space museum downtown, but my kids prefer going into the city.

There is a concord, an SR 71, and the space shuttle Discovery - among many others. I personally like it a lot better than the Air and Space museum downtown, but my kids prefer going into the city.
This is the center of most sightseeing activities. Close to many major museums, national monument, capital building and more.

This is my absolute favorite place to take the kids in the city. It’s easy to get to by car, plenty of paid parking (and if you get lucky free parking on Connecticut), and lots of great things to see. They have pandas, elephants, giraffes, apes, lions and way more.

In a city of museums, the Natural History museum is the one “must see” museum that has to be hit. They just remade their dinosaur exhibit and it’s fantastic. There are things to see for the entire family.
