The best spot to catch some winter sunshine with your dog. There is usually a well trodden path through the snow, or bring your snowshoes or cross country skis to create your own. Beautiful views and a wholesome way to spend an hour or three!
**This is only valid in the winter months, in the summer the golf course frowns on people in snowshoes walking their dogs interrupting the golfing!

The 30 minute drive is well worth it once you arrive at this serene lake, with picnic areas and a designated dog beach. Take a stroll along the lakeside trail, or even better, take a paddleboard and bring your dog for a gentle paddle on this calm lake. Plenty to see and many ways to relax and have fun here.

Bring the kids, dogs, snacks, and a floaty for a day of swimming, short hikes and appetite inducing activity. Explore on the lake loop trail or just hang out and swim. Find the dedicated dog beach for off leash freedom.

Find the dedicated dog beach for off leash freedom.

If you haven't been to the quaint town of Nelson then you should know it totally warrants your attention.
Bring your pup and wander up and down Baker st. Many of the businesses are dog friendly, just ask to be sure.There are sidewalk cafes and restaurants that let you keep your dog with you, or on the other side of a rail.
There is a great off leash area by the lake to walk and let your pup romp. Drive down past the airport towards to waste transfer station to find ample parking and the trail head.
Not as much of a walk, unless you count the stroll onto their pet friendly patio, but a great place to hang out after a swim in the river or a walk on the "Rails to Trails". Their key lime pie is a local fave :)

A nice long walking path alongside the Columbia River, right here in Trail. There are some intense signs directing where you can be with your dog, but the whole paved trail is dog friendly (just some of the grassy/picnic areas, and the beach in the summer, where they don't want dogs -but honestly, we walk our dogs here all the time and have never had any issues) There is lots of parking at several locations, but there's always spots near the skate park end of the trail.
