This is the most wonderful and scrumptious breakfast, brunch, lunch you'll have anywhere! Lots of good food made from natural, organic, and local ingredients (be sure to ask for a box for the leftovers!). It is open very early morning until 2 pm. and is usually quite crowded due to popularity. The best times during the week, for less crowded atmosphere, is between 12:30 and 2:00 pm. It is very close to the Willamette River if you want to take a walk at River Front Park afterward.

This is the best Thai food in Salem with the most wonderful service full of smiling, happy staff. Their specialties are marked on the menu with an orchid symbol and are exquisite. Their peanut sauce is to die for!

The food is wonderful; the drinks a bit unique, and it has a changing marquis of local craft beers to taste or drink with your meal. The wines are good, too. You'll like the comfortable atmosphere and friendly service. Keep in mind that it is often busy, so you may have to wait a bit for service but it's worth it.

Great for walks along the Willamette River (which flows north like the Nile, by the way), across the pedestrian bridge to Wallace Marine Park in West Salem, a cruise on the Willamette on the Sternwheeler, the Willamette Queen, with or without a meal, and more. If inclined, there is a carousel with artist hand-carved horses (and other animals from time to time) located at the south end of the park. In the near future, there will also be a bridge over to Minto Brown Island Park.

2200 Minto Island Rd SWThis park is very large and has lots of great hiking trails. There is a dog park in the middle and a children's big toy park at the western end. You can fish just past the children's area, with or without a boat. It's quiet, beautiful and fun to walk, hike, cycle, or kayak.
The hiking and views through this park are amazing! The myriad of waterfalls is worth the trip as a capstone on all of the other beauty to be seen and experienced.

A walk or tour around the Capitol building is worth your time; you may even take in a free art exhibit. The last time the gold leafing was replaced, it was paid for by coins saved and donated by the children of Oregon. Next to the Capitol is a beautiful park and across from the Capitol is the Mall with Splash Pads which operate during the warmer months.
