Glenshee (The glen of the fairies) is a beautiful long, wide glen, leading to Braemar. The Snow Road travels through it and the Cairngorms National Park is just a few miles from our home.

It’s a bit of a drive away, but is usually a quiet, peaceful place. It’s nice to drive around the loch or head up to the remote Rannoch Train Station where there is a tearoom (advisable to check opening hours).
The photo above is a ‘folly’ on Craiganour Estate, designed by American artist, James Turrell (Scottish Skyspace). It is set in birch woods, and is fairly easy to walk to. It’s relatively unknown and is a lovely place to relax and appreciate light, which is what is was designed for. Well worth visiting.

Situated in the County of Angus, the views at this memorial monument are amazing. It takes about half an hour to walk up the fairly steep path to it. Carpark just off the road below.
