The Minnehaha falls are just a couple miles down the river (follow the river south). They are stunning. It's a beautiful place to walk, grab some food at the Sea Salt Eatery, and enjoy an afternoon.

It's a bit of a drive (about an hour) to Franconia, but WOW is it worth it. This place is incredible. Over 40 acres, home to 120 sculptures rotated yearly. And it's free!
Make a day of it and go to Franconia, then Taylors Falls. Next head south along the St. Croix River towards Stillwater to walk around and have a delicious dinner before heading back to the Cities. A perfect day :-)

If you like margaritas on the patio, this is the place to go! And, only a few blocks away. Happy hour every afternoon is the ideal time.
I'd recommend grabbing drinks/apps here and then head elsewhere for dinner.
