Step off the ferry at any one of the three landings, and you'll find four beaches, an amusement park, a petting farm, splash pads, a maze, playgrounds, restaurants, and wide-open spaces perfect for picnics. This is one of my favorite local places. Take a ferry down, rent a bike, spend time by the water.

Winter markets and summer beer, this place is cool to walk around year round. The pedestrian-only Distillery District, set in quaint 19th century buildings that once housed a large whiskey distillery, draws crowds to its cobblestone streets lined with hip indie restaurants, bars and boutiques. Art lovers come for the galleries, outdoor sculptures and dance, music and stage performances at the area's several theatres. In December, the annual Toronto Christmas Market takes over the streets.

The tranquil Harbourfront area on the shores of Lake Ontario offers waterfront parks and trails, plus galleries, theatres and literary events at the Harbourfront Centre. Families take the ferry to the Toronto Islands for beaches and the Centreville children's amusement park with its 1907 carousel. Sleek condo towers housing young professionals offer hip street-level restaurants, cafes and shops

Woodbine Beach is undoubtedly the most popular beach in Toronto, and for good reason.  The largest of the four beaches that line Lake Ontario, this stretch of sandy waterfront pulses on hot summer days, playing host to frolicking children, gleaming sunbathers, barbecuers, and volleyball players galore.

My personal favorite, this area is absolutely breathtaking The Scarborough Bluffs, also known as The Bluffs, is an escarpment in the Scarborough district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. There are nine parks along the bluffs, with Bluffers Park being the only one with a beach

Fashionable Yorkville is a top destination for affluent shoppers at its high-end boutiques, galleries and design studios, especially on Bloor Street's "Mink Mile." The area features chic cafes, polished bars and fine-dining restaurants. Its posh hotels host Hollywood insiders during the Toronto International Film Festival. Side streets are lined with picture-postcard Victorian homes with ornamental gardens.
