Parks & Nature
This is almost a secret spot. It's a bit of a walk uphill into the property, but once you're there, it's a wonderful place to explore the old quarry area, with beautiful views. Drive up Yerry Hill Road from Route 212 to the top of the hill. You will see a pull off area with room to park at the sharp left bend in the road, just past Nordic Drive. Nordic Drive is where you will walk straight up until you reach the driveway at the end. The trail entrance is on the left. There is a chain across the entrance.

It's about three miles to the top, but well worth the walk. You'll see the remains of the old Overlook Hotel, as well as stunning views of the valley below. Make sure to park in designated areas or you will be ticketed!

859 Wittenberg RdA beautiful park (entry is free through winter months) with beavers and nature trails you can explore. Amazing scenery for the nature photographer. Dogs must be leashed at all times, but there are two, large running areas that are fenced in. Poop bags provided!
A tradition in our area is tubing on the Esopus River! Be forewarned- this is for advanced swimmers and not for small children. Depending on the river flow (recent rain storms), the river can be quite challenging. For this reason, I would not recommend anyone take part unless they are confident in their swimming abilities.
