Neighborhood

Welcome to Parkside! Parkside Place, established in 1913, is an historic neighborhood located just south of beautiful Daffin Park. The streets are lined with mature trees and flowering bushes. Brick and craftsman style bungalows built in the early to mid-1900s add immense character and charm to the neighborhood. The neighborhood and park are excellent places to get out and explore. Historic Grayson Stadium, current home to the Savannah Bananas, is located in the park along with a tree lined plaza, tennis courts, pool, lake and fountain, ball fields, dog park and plenty of open space. The neighborhood and park are wonderful places to meet the neighbors and enjoy a warm welcome to the south.

Tybee Island

The beautiful sandy beaches of Tybee Island are a quick 25-minute drive from Parkside Place. The barrier island is known for its wide, sandy beaches and laid-back vibe. A variety of restaurants, beach shops and candy stores pepper the area. Tybee is great to explore on foot or by bike.

Food scene

Eat like a local! The Wyld is one of our favorite spots for great food and amazing views. This restaurant is tucked away off the beaten path and offers some of the best food in Savannah. The menu changes with what is in season with all of the food provided by local farmers. Everything is fresh and prepared in a simple yet absolutely delicious manner. Indoor seating is available but the outdoor waterfront decks are by far the place to be!

My favorite local coffee shop. Gallery Espresso is located on Bull Street in the heart of historic downtown adjacent to one of Savannah's historic squares. The coffee is fantastic, and the atmosphere reflects Savannah's quirky and artistic side. All of the artwork on display changes regularly and is for sale by local artists. WiFi is available and accessible from the indoor and outdoor seating.

A great spot for brunch! Amazing food and fun cocktails. This is the only restaurant located in Forysth Park. It's the perfect complement to a beautiful morning. Check their website for their live music calendar. The original location is located downtown at the intersection of Bull Street and Oglethorpe. The wait can be longer for a table in the mornings but this location is excellent for dinner.

Sightseeing

Savannah is a city of parks and Forsyth Park is its largest. Forsyth Park is 30 acres with its southern boundary marking the end of the largest historic district within the US. The park is home to a famous fountain whose water is turned green every St. Patrick's Day. The fountain was installed in 1858 and is a sister fountain to one found at Place de la Concorde in Paris. The park also features a seasonal Farmer's Market, large tree lined promenade, outdoor amphitheater, historic training fort, a Fragrant Garden for the blind, walking paths, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, areas for soccer and Frisbee along with large expansive lawns for outdoor enjoyment.

Pack some comfy shoes or flip flops and leave the heels at home for this excursion. River Street is the waterfront, cobblestone street running along Savannah's northern edge overlooking the Savannah River. The streets were formed by old ballast stones from shipping vessels coming into port for pick-up of some of Savannah's and the local area's prime goods. Old ballast stones are the foundation for many of the river facing buildings and old warehouses as well. Today, these old structures are home to more than 75 boutiques, galleries, artist studios, restaurants and pubs.

A true Low Country experience. Daufuskie Island is a barrier island along the coast that can only be reached by private boat or ferry. The island is 5,000 acres of mostly untouched wilderness and beaches with a handful of low-key local eateries often with live music and a true island feel. Kayak rentals, golf cart tours and more are available. And, you are sure to see a few dolphins along the way!
