"The Prestwich Memorial was brought to life with the launch of David Donde’s new coffee spot, Truth.coffeecult. Coffee lovers swarmed to get their slice of the new offering, which proved to be nothing short of amazing. The coffee is as good as it gets. The intention is to keep things simple and uncomplicated by providing a smaller selection of blends. Choose between the Resurrection Blend, Vengeance Blend, Antithesis Blend, Donde’s Chaos or Organic. Each named with the intention of striking a nerve. Don’t be shy to try the Vengeance blend; it’s not necessary that you share the real reason behind your choice."

Arts & Culture

Robben Island is an island in Table Bay, 6.9 km west of the coast of Bloubergstrand, Cape Town, South Africa. The name is Dutch for "seal island." Robben Island is roughly oval in shape, 3.3 km long north-south, and 1.9 km wide, with an area of 5.07 km². It is flat and only a few meters above sea level, as a result of an ancient erosion event. Nobel Laureate and former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela was imprisoned there for 18 of the 27 years he served behind bars before the fall of apartheid. To date, three of the former inmates of Robben Island have gone on to become President of South Africa: Nelson Mandela, Kgalema Motlanthe,[3] and current President, Jaciob Zuma.

District Six was named the Sixth Municipal District of Cape Town in 1867. Originally established as a mixed community of freed slaves, merchants, artisans, labourers and immigrants. District Six was a vibrant centre with close links to the city and the port. By the beginning of the twentieth century, however, the process of removals and marginalisation had begun. The first to be forced out were black South Africans who were displaced from the District in 1901. As the more prosperous moved away to the suburbs, the area became a neglected ward of the city.
