We are surrounded by a stunningly beautiful landscape, composed of Mountains and the Sea. Comfy beds, cosy rooms and an open fire to breakfast by, ensure a relaxed stay. Not to forget, a 2 min walk will take you to our local restaurants and pubs.
Waken in the morning and step out the door onto the beach. Walk a mile and a half through the amazing white sands and through some of the most spectacular dunes you will ever find. Balnakeil is surrounded by an abundance of wildlife and plants - it is renowned for being a bird watcher's paradise. Balnakeil Beach Bothy has the same exceptionally high standards as the magnificent Balnakeil House which is on the same estate, and as Dignity and Time in the Borders. With an open plan living area and Anta furnishings, this is a sumptuous and welcoming spot to return to. Although it is very compact, a great deal of thought has gone into providing all the essentials and far more. A new window has been thoughtfully introduced so that you can gaze across the bay whilst enjoying your meals at the kitchen table. It's easy to develop a habit of taking a stroll along the beach to the end of the Faraid Head peninsula before breakfast and late in the evening. It's quiet here anyway, but at these peaceful times it's amazing to sit in the pale light and watch the waves and the wildlife: puffins, seals, dolphins, and the occasional otter, oblivious to the human presence. The coast is one of contrasts: long flat sands and dunes, huge towering cliffs, rugged hills and barren moorland - there is no better place to stay and enjoy the natural beauty which the North West highlands has to offer than in our very own magical Beach Bothy. This is a perfect place for solitude, for romance or for those who love the best of scenery and surroundings.
Tubeg and Clashbuie make up the crofting township which lies above the harbour at Skerray. Shed No.7 is a newly built studio cabin with twin beds, en suite shower room, cooking facilities and a sitting area and balcony. The cabin is well insulated and cosy so perfect for all year round stays. It has superfast Broadband. There are outstanding views across to Island Niamh (pron. Neave) and beyond to the Orkney Islands. Our minimum stay is 2 nights but we know you will want to stay longer.
