Award winning and internationally acclaimed, this hidden gem is a haven of peace and tranquillity. The stunning meditation gardens were lovingly created over thirty-eight years by Buddha Maitreya and offer a little slice of Japanese serenity in rural Nottinghamshire. Pure Land has a truly magical feel, miles away from your typical English country gardens, with ornamental monuments, trees and plants native to Japan, in addition to the world’s first crystal garden. Skip carefully along the stepping stones, over bridges and along secret pathways to uncover your favourite area of the gardens or take time out in one of the beautiful decorative seating areas to admire the calm waters of the koi pond. The tea rooms are the perfect spot for a refreshing brew or delicious homemade scone to complete your visit. The Meditation centre offers individual tuition for relaxation and meditation, group meditation and regular meditation meetings. 'Perfect Relaxation and Meditation' is available on CD or can be downloaded from the website link at the top of this page. The gardens feature in The AA Book “The Inspirational Gardens”, “The Good Garden Guide” and “The Most Amazing Gardens to Visit in Britain” by Readers Digest. Make sure to pay a visit to the annual Lantern Lit Evening Garden honours an ancient and venerable Japanese tradition. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in August and September.
