The furthest away loch for paddling and swimming. As a result it's usually less busy. * It's recommended you consult a guidebook and weather conditions or alternatively book yourself in for a lesson or tour with outdoorexplore.co.uk

It’s a bit of a drive away, but is usually a quiet, peaceful place. It’s nice to drive around the loch or head up to the remote Rannoch Train Station where there is a tearoom (advisable to check opening hours). The photo above is a ‘folly’ on Craiganour Estate, designed by American artist, James Turrell (Scottish Skyspace). It is set in birch woods, and is fairly easy to walk to. It’s relatively unknown and is a lovely place to relax and appreciate light, which is what is was designed for. Well worth visiting.

Loch Rannoch is at the base of schiehallion. There are a number of walks in the forrest surrounding the loch. The 22 miles road circuit of the loch is ideal for cycling as it is a quiet flat road. There is easy access into the loch for those bringing a paddleboard.

Beautiful views, great to drive around in any weather. Beaches and places to stop for photos and picnics.

Very scenic drive via Aberfeldy, and back through Queens view, Killiekrankie, and Pitlochry.
