Port Meadow is a 2 mile walk up the towpath 1.5 mile walk up the Thames Footpath. Its 900 acres are open to the public and this historic common land is used for grazing animals. Port Meadow is a popular place for river swimming and there are two pubs on hand for food and drink.
There are a number of accesses to the meadow and great pubs at various sides. Brilliant for a walk, picnic, even a swim!
See free running cows and horses, nice for picnic and swimming in the summer.
A lovely bit of Oxford scenery. It is particularly bustling in the summer. Near to here you have the lovely neighborhood of Jericho and you can also enjoy great pubs like The Perch and The Trout.

“Awesome pub. Totally my local and wicked in the summer on front terrace or round the back with the dirty smokers, they also do some quality pies / pub food etc. Not the cheapest pub but worth it.”

“A lovely central park which has the River Cherwell flowing through it. Great for a walk, a picnic and its so central you can mix this up with city stuff. We swim in the Cherwell here on hot days and its great.”

“Sweet and savoury french crepes in a traditional and cosy British tavern. It is perfect for a relaxed lunch in Oxford, and you can walk along the scenic canal to get there.”
