An expansive lawn area with tall palms and kiawe trees providing plenty of shade adorn the park, with lots of lush grass to go along with the small pockets of sand on the beach. It’s quiet here and almost never crowded. Like most Kona beaches, Pahoehoe Beach is a comfortable place for a picnic or to simply sit and watch the surf. There are plenty of picnic tables and benches scattered throughout the park.

A small rocky beach allows access from this nice park onto the reef - great spot for intermediate scuba and snorkeling. No lifeguard. Freshwater showers and port-a-pottys.

Yoga Big Island has ocean-side yoga classes at Pahoehoe Beach Park and Old Airport Park. We have really enjoyed their yoga classes at both locations. Unfortunately, the yoga class offerings have been reduced starting in 2023. We're hoping they bring back more classes before long. Check their schedule online and keep an eye open for the occasional free yoga session. Yoga Big Island has inexpensive monthly rates. If you're inspired to do 4+ yoga sessions while you're in Kona, the monthly rate is probably worth looking into.

Great picnic spot in Kona. Shaded during the day. There is a small sandy spot in the spring-fall that is OK for getting in the water, though not the best swimming spot overall. Lots of rocks. Beautiful spot for a picnic or just to relax in a chair and read a book by the sea.

This is not a traditional beach, but rather a beautiful grassy area right on the water, with picnic tables and relaxing views. Great for a mid-day or sunset picnic.
