Beautiful gardens in Manteo. Spring is best but if you’re here durkmf the holidays, check out the Winter Lights display!
There's plenty to see and do while in the Manteo and Roanoke Island areas. It's doesn't take that long to drive there from the resort. I personally love visiting outdoor gardens and if you do, too; then get out there and check these gardens out.
I would recommend this place to everyone ~ however ~ I love gardens! Wonderful way to spend the morning or late afternoons!
The gardens were created for your enjoyment, and as a living memorial to the time when Sir Walter Raleigh’s lost colonists lived in this very place over 400 years ago. Renaissance statuary, Elizabethan-styled landscaping and buildings and native plantings comprise the dapple-shaded pleasure garden…
Just over an hour drive into Manteo, garden and plant lovers will enjoy a visit to these gardens.

“Smaller aquarium which is nice for little kids as it’s not too overwhelming. Turtle rescue on sight. We really enjoy taking our 2 year old here on rainy days.”

“Roanoke Island Festival Park is an interactive family attraction that celebrates the first English settlement in America. The centerpiece of the 25-acre island park, across from the Manteo NC waterfront, is the Elizabeth II, a representation of one of the seven English ships from the Roanoke Voyage of 1585. Climb aboard and help set the sails, plot your course and swab the decks! Visit the Settlement Site and try a straw and feather beds, woodworking, and games. See the blacksmith fashion his 16th century wares. Explore 400 years of history in the Adventure Museum, fun for all ages. See the Legend of Two-Path film and the American Indian Town. The Town features opportunities for guests to learn about the vital and vibrant culture, heritage, and traditions of the American Indians in our region. Enjoy the Fossil Pit, The Museum Store, Outer Banks History Center and marsh-side boardwalks that surround the site. Summer concerts can be heard in our Outdoor Pavilion. The Pavilion Stage is available for wedding and reception rentals and is equipped with theatrical lighting. Inside weather back-up locations are available for your event.”
