The best Indian Restaurant in town! Dine in or takeaway. Eating at the famous Free House (once an old Church, now a quirky pub- a portal for the multitude of craft beers being created all over New Zealand.) over a pint is a good way to finish off the day. The Indian Café is housed in a little yellow bungalow on Collingwood Street. Open since 2002, it wasn’t the first Indian restaurant in Nelson but these days it’s considered one of the best, with locals filling the dining room pretty much every night of the week. Our go-to for Indian, sit in or take-away (or, ask for it to be delivered to the Free House over the road (with its speciality beers and outdoor seating), who will even supply plates and cutlery - what more could you ask for!)
