Grab a rideshare for a 10 minute ride down to DC's outdoor oasis or drive yourself! Lots of parking, and in good weather, picnicking.
For such a huge place, the National Arboretum flies a bit under the radar. We recommend the Bonsai and Penjing Museum, but the entire grounds are beautiful.
The National bonsai collection is displayed here - great photo opportunities at the historic Capitol columns.
Its a beautiful place to tour, especially in Spring, Summer and Autumn. The park contains a bonsai collection from post World War II including a bonsai that survived the nuclear bomb at Nagasaki

“This brewery puts out some of my favorite beer - like their Ponzi IPA, and the brewery is powered by solar! Tours of the brewery are offered on Saturdays at noon, 2pm, and 6pm. No reservations required, but please inquire at the bar for a tour, as tours cannot be guaranteed when the bar is busiest!”

“The first distillery to open its doors in DC post-Prohibition aptly named its signature product after a bootlegger rarely seen without his signature green felt fedora. George Cassiday originally sold booze on the sly to Congressmen out of a House office building. But, after loose lips got him caught, he bounced over to the Senate where folks were (and still are?) better at keeping quiet. Cassiday's son lives in the area, and was the first to receive a case of gin.”
