Torre Embriaci, also called Torre degli Embriaci, located in the oldest area of Genoa, the one where the "castrum" stood, is linked to the name of that Guglielmo Embriaco who «a crusader […] returned victorious from Caesarea». It is the only one of the numerous towers that were located in the current historic center of Genoa to have been spared by the edict of 1196 which required the cutting of all the city towers to 80 palms. La Torre Embriaci, anche chiamata Torre degli Embriaci, situata nella zona più antica di Genova, quella dove sorgeva il "castrum", si lega al nome di quel Guglielmo Embriaco che «crociato […] tornò vincitore da Cesarea». È l'unica delle numerosi torri che si trovavano nell'attuale centro storico di Genova ad essere stata risparmiata dall'editto del 1196 che volle il taglio ad 80 palmi di tutte le torri cittadine
