This is a tractor museum and there are beautiful iron works of art. Third generation Oregonian and wheat farmer Erl McLaughlin has been collecting and restoring tractors since 1983. Now with over 35 antique tractors and as many farm implements dating as far back as 1835, the Sunrise Iron Museum has become a monumental tribute to the agricultural heritage of North America. The collection includes hard rubber tire trucks from 1918, a number of horse drawn wagons, original cast iron tractor seats, authentic vintage signs and many other farm antiques and iron heritage pieces. Know before you go: To visit Sunrise Iron, you must call ahead as visiting is by appointment only. 541.426.4407

Joseph is a quaint small town that sits in the shadow of Oregon’s Wallowa Mountains. Its ideal location makes it a popular place for tourists to refuel and grab some food before heading out into the Eagle Caps. Travelers who are looking for an alternative to outdoor pursuits, will find that Joseph’s picturesque main street offers a plethora of eateries and shopping opportunities. The town is full of boutiques, galleries and bronze statues commemorating the area’s history and geography. The piercing blue waters of Lake Wallowa attract swimmers, jet-skiers, and fishing enthusiasts. The crescent-shaped lake lies at the foot of the Eagle Cap Wilderness, only six miles away from Joseph’s picturesque main street.

Has been described as a very nice hike with only a few switchbacks and is decently inclined but not strenuous. Mostly forested, with the switchbacks crossing the same rockslide a few times before leveling out with a view of the valley and ultimately the waterfall, which is cold and shaded after a hot hike in August. Allow an hour. You can continue on If the water level isn't high and you can easily wade through it to hike the Chief Joseph Trail. But if you continue on (it's one of the 3 trails for accessing the Chief Joseph mountain summit), this would require some serious mountaineering/bouldering to do.
