Neighbourhoods

Enjoy the new Darsena The Darsena is the body of water that connects Navigli’s two canals today. Recently regenerated, it’s now a popular place for an aperitivo. You can grab a drink at one of the local bars or from one of the many stands that appear on summer evenings and sit along the harbour’s bank, dangling your feet over the water. If you’re there before it closes, make sure to pop into the indoor market on the bank to pick up food to snack on or cook. Go in search of vintage As one of the world’s fashion capitals, people come to Milan for the designer boutiques – but venture outside the Quadrilatero della Moda and you’ll find a thriving thrift-store scene. The Navigli area has a particular concentration of offerings. From Corso Porta Ticinese down to Navigli proper, you’ll find a series of independent boutiques, luxury consignment stores and even an Italian army surplus centre on Naviglio Grande. If vintage furniture is more your bag (and you have a big enough suitcase), don’t miss the Mercato dell’Antiquariato that sets up all along the banks of Naviglio Grande and the surrounding streets on the last Sunday of every month.

Another one of Milan’s most iconic sights to see, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is right next to the Duomo and a must-visit (even for 15-minutes) when exploring Milan. Being the oldest (and some would say the grandest) mall in all of Milan, it’s a totally stunning place to visit that’s so impressive. Inside, you’ll find lots of luxury shops and some pretty high-end eateries, too. Have the best Time.

Metro easy to use.

Metro. The metro is often the fastest way to get around town, although it doesn't allow you to get your bearings as the aboveground trams do. Two of the four lines that run through the city stop at the Duomo and allow for easy connections to Milan Central Station and neighbourhoods like Porta Romana.

Eat pranzo

Tradition is felt in many ways and in this case, we discuss the proper hour for lunch. In order to avoid frustration and being turned away hungry, travelers in Italy should know that you are expected to be seated for lunch between 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Please don't look for pranzo (“lunch”) at noon, or even at 3:30. Very cheap pranzò
