The galleries of the Sapumal Foundation contain over 200 paintings and drawings which trace the development of art in Sri Lanka from the 1920s to date, a selection from over 1000 items in the inventory of the Foundation. The artists were the original members of the '43 Group and laid the foundation of modern art in Sri Lanka.

Probably Colombo's best art gallery, with gorgeous masterpieces - including those from the extraordinary '43 group. The opening hours are eccentric. Check if they are open before you depart.

Wonderful collection of some of Sri Lanka’s best art of the 20th century. Featuring several pieces from the Group of ‘43 the gallery includes paintings by George Keyt, Ivan Peiris, Richard Gabriel, Lionel Wendt, and Justin Deraniyagala, among others.
