Το Μουσείο της Αρχαίας Ελεύθερνας είναι το πρώτο μουσείο αρχαιολογικού χώρου στην Κρήτη, καθώς βρίσκεται δίπλα στην αρχαία πόλη. Οι τρεις αίθουσες του μουσείου φιλοξενούν όλη την ιστορία της πόλης της Ελεύθερνας από το 3000 π.Χ. έως το 1300 μ.Χ. με αντικείμενα καθημερινής ζωής και έργα τέχνης.

t is located in the heart of Crete - about halfway from ancient Kydonia (Chania) to the west and Knossos to the east, and still from Phaistos and Gortys to the south. At the foot of Psiloritis of ancient Idis and at an altitude of about 380 meters above sea level. And it is a pre-millennial "journey" of ancient Eleutherna (because of this reason) from 3,000 BC. until the 14th century AD, which came to light step by step during a 30-year excavation by the University of Crete in collaboration with Professor Nikos Stambolidis.And it is also the early Iron Age (from 900 BC to the late 6th or early 7th century BC) that proved to be the most important period of the city directly associated with Homer and the dawn of Greek culture. A visit to the Museum of Eleftherna can be easily combined with the historic Arkadi Monastery as they are within walking distance
