Cơm Tấm Trần Quý Cáp Cơm tấm Trần Quý Cáp is known for being one of the best places in Saigon to have cơm tấm or broken rice. It’s been open for decades and is a favorite of many Vietnamese families. My Vietnamese friends swear by this place. A friend of mine said its been patronized by him, his father and grandfather. Three generations of Vietnamese can’t be wrong! Order the com tam suon nuong which is grilled pork chop with broken rice. It’s referred to as “broken rice” because it’s made with fragments of rice grains that were broken either in the field, during drying, during transport, or by milling. The broken rice tastes nuttier than regular rice, almost like risotto. But get ready to be blown away by the pork chop. It will be the best pork chop you’ve ever tasted – savory sweet and very tender. You’ll really enjoyed it with the cơm tấm.

Traditional dishes from the south of Vietnam. “Com Tam” in here take you to the next level of street VN style food. Contains broken rice ( smaller than normal rice) pork tender, egg. Try some bitter melon soups. I promised it won’t let you down. Local big big favorite.

Don't let the appearance fool you. This is one of the oldest and finest place that serves broken rice, a uniquely Saigonese dish. It's best to visit during lunch as they might run out of food for dinner.
