The nearest Snowdon path from Tanycastell, some 20 minutes drive. A shorter route but more strenuous. Limited car parking facilities available so arrive early or opt for the park and ride in Nant Peris, the other side of Pen y Path. Stop at Pen y Gwryd on the way - the hotel served as a place of stay for |Tensing and Hillary before their sumit of Everst. Full of related and mountain memorabilia.

Turn left at the bottom of the drive and walk ..uphill for 2.5M to the beginning of the 2 main routes up Snowdon. Check the weather first as it changes dramatically & hourly. Cafe for tea etc.

Set off early for a full day of climbing. There is a train to the top of you can’t face the climb!! Have to book in advance

If you're thinking of walking up Snowdon - PYG is definitely my favourite track!! Visit Snowdon website for bus time tables and maps. Go for it......you can do it
