Heading east from Stroud, the Bakehouse is just outside the stunning Chalford village and offers delicious food, home made cakes, tea and coffee. A fantastic motivation for a canal walk (you can start from the Waitrose car park). Its also a good jumping off point for a walk further up the canal towards Sapperton with its two very good pubs; the Daneway right on the canal and adjacent to the western end of the legendary and now defunct, Sapperton tunnel a (60 mins on foot from the Bakehouse) and the other The Bell, up the hill in the heart of this pretty village (another 15 mins on foot). There's another good pub, in Coates, at the other end of the tunnel, The Tunnel House - nestled between woods and fields with a lovely garden (20 mins drive).

Great cafe with parking. Can cross over the road and stroll down path by the stream for about 10 minutes through Picturesque village to amazing park with a flying fox, swings and a stream.
