Founded in 1827 by Robert Theakston & John Wood who by 1832 had sole ownership of the brewery. In 1919 the company acquired and then closed ‘Lightfoot Brewery’ also in Masham. The visitors centre is called the ‘Black Bull in Paradise’ and is a lovely, small quaint pub. They do also do brewery tours which are bookable online.
