This is a good place to start your trip. They have lots of recommendations for activities and give out free maps.

A great place to start your visit to Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding Eastern Sierras area. Lots of great knowledge about local hiking and biking trails, fishing, etc. as well as winter activities such as cross country skiing, ice skating, downhill skiing or snowboarding too!

The Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center specializes in providing general information about the Inyo National Forest and surrounding local areas. Stop in for maps of the area and suggestions on great places to hike, camp and visit. The center provides campfire permits, wooding permits, and backpacking permits for those looking to begin a trip in the Inyo National Forest backcountry. There are also many fantastic interpretive program opportunities available through the center.
