Directly opposite the cottage is the Grewelthorpe Village Hall, an old methodist church has been converted into a bright modern space for locals and visitors to enjoy. The hall has a cafe (run by volunteers) and a large hall which is regularly used to host exercise classes, talks, and music events. You can search the Grewelthorpe Village Hall online and book tickets for events coming up. Its a lovely venue and not far to walk to home after having a glass or two of wine at one of the many evening events.

Grewelthorpe, just 1 ¾ miles from Kirkby, was mentioned in the Domesday Book and hosts the prettiest duckpond in the whole of England! The old Methodist Chapel, now the village hall, hold a number of classes and entertainment events throughout the year. The Hackfall cafe is also the nearest cafe for visitors to the wonderful Hackfall Woods, access to which is by a footpath close to The Crown Inn, just over the road.
